In 2003, I was the first project manager at my workplace. I was fortunate to work with leaders who recognized the value of project management to research projects, and who embraced the principles of organization, communication and good relationships. In 2004, I developed and delivered introductory project management training to graduate students and other trainees. In 2011, I started Lyric Management to enable delivery of training and workshops to the broader community and to further develop topics and materials of interest to participants. To date, over 2,000 participants have completed training workshops in BC and across Canada. Interest in and demand for training in project management and leaderships remains high, as personnel throughout the research community recognize the importance of sound management to project success.
Event management services were added in 2012 with the Annual TFRI BC Node Research Day - a multidisciplinary symposium for knowledge exchange and celebrations of success in translational cancer research. The Research Day will be marking it's 7th anniversary in 2019 with an expanded program as part of the BC Cancer Summit, all delivered through a well-organized and managed event.
In 2015, career planning services were added. Whether you're a new graduate or an experienced scientific professional, working with someone with research management experience can enhance the success of your career planning or transition in this emerging professional discipline.
